WORKCOVER
Rebates are available for individuals registered with WorkSafe Victoria (provider number: CL301A), WorkCover Queensland (provider number: P0007613091), and WorkCover NSW (SIRA) (provider number: 151139), who are seeking counselling support relevant to their injury impacts and recovery.
*Please note, a GP referral and claim submission are required to access pre-approved sessions for each scheme.
Approval process
WorkCover NSW (SIRA)
Our first session is pre-approved under the NSW SIRA scheme. During this first session, we will work together to complete an Allied Health Treatment Request form to request a further 8 sessions for approval by your insurer. Subsequent requests will be made on every 8th session.
WorkCover QLD
WorkCover Queensland provides up to 6 hours of pre-approved, provisional counselling with a GP referral while your claim is being processed. During our first few sessions, we will work together to design a treatment plan and request a number of sessions based on your anticipated recovery timeline. We will then submit this plan to WorkCover to request approval for your next block of sessions. Please note, the 6 pre-approved hours only apply if the specific psychological condition has not previously been treated by another allied health provider for this claim.
WorkSafe Victoria
Once you have submitted a claim for a mental injury with WorkSafe Victoria, the scheme allows for a period of 13 weeks of provisional funding for counselling sessions with a GP referral. You will not need to pay back the costs of the services accessed if your claim is ultimately rejected following this period. Once approved, WorkSafe Victoria offers 12 hours of counselling services to be used within 6 months. We will complete a Treatment Update/Summary form after every 10 hours (sessions) to request another block of 12 hours from your insurer.
Invoicing
WorkSafe Victoria invoices will be provided to you to submit to your insurer following each session. WorkCover Queensland and NSW (SIRA) will be submitted on your behalf to your insurer.
Fees
WorkCover sessions will be charged at the indicated fee rate for each respective scheme. The fee schedules can be found on the websites of each respective scheme.
Information sharing
As part of accessing counselling through WorkCover (VIC, QLD, and NSW), details specific to your injury, symptoms, and progress are required to be shared with your insurer to access ongoing funding; however, consent to disclose will be requested in writing before discussing your treatment with other allied health practitioners and/or individuals on your treating team. Information to be shared will always be discussed with you first.
Screening
As part of best practice, relevant screening tools will be administered every 4-8 weeks to monitor your progress and psychological capacity in returning to work (if applicable). Results from screening tools may be shared with your insurer, treating physician(s), and relevant members of your treating team (with your consent) to request further sessions, enable wraparound support, and enhance your treatment outcomes.

Acknowledgement
I respectfully acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands and waters we are fortunate to share. I pay deep respect to Elders past and present, and honour the complexity, intelligence, strength and resilience of the world’s oldest living culture. I also recognise the enduring and devastating impacts of colonisation on individuals, families, communities, and country, and that sovereignty was never ceded. As a beneficiary of this sacred place, I commit to listening, learning, and walking gently on this land, as well as advocating for its protection. This country always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
I also celebrate the richness of diversity in our community and recognise that there is still important work to be done to truly honour and inclusively embrace people of all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, abilities, religions, faiths, and beliefs.
